This kingdom might be dark, but even the darkest day looks bright when you are at my side… because your smile and your beautiful eyes are brighter than the sun.
King Xander of Nohr to his wife
Your smile is brighter than the rays of the sun. Your eyes shine brighter and more beautifully than all the stars in the night sky. If I’m allowed to look into your eyes… and you smile at me, then I will be happy.
Corrin: Oboro and Corrin are surprisingly amicable, if for no other reason than the fact that Takumi ordered her to work with them. She’s warming up to Corrin, but it’s taking time.
Laslow: She can’t stand his constant flirting. She thought Niles was bad, but he’s on a whole new level. On the other hand, Laslow isn’t being overtly sexual, he’s literally just asking her out for tea. What made her warm up to him was her going to investigate a disturbance in the wee hours before morn. It was just Laslow. He was practicing a new dance. Xander had instructed him to create a dance that would win favor with the Hoshidans. It was clearly inspired by Oboro’s lancework. She corrected him on some of the finer points and finally agreed to a cup of tea.
Peri: She…is not a fan of Peri’s lust for wanton blood. Upon learning about Peri’s past, she tries her best to tolerate her. If nothing else, she’s an extremely capable ally on the battlefield. Oboro has been on mess hall duty with her a few times. She’s come to respect Peri as a cook and is warming up slowly.
Xander: OH THIS IS THE BIG ONE. The future king of Nohr himself? Oboro could not hate him more. Or you would think. Oddly enough, Xander’s writing won her over. He’s known for his penmanship. He thought he would try to embrace Hoshidan culture through a poem known as a haiku. Oboro seeing the “Prince of Savages” writing poems about flowers and moonlight in beautiful handwriting was a shock to her system. It took her a LONG time to warm to Xander, moreso than anyone else, but they become good friends after the war.
Niles: Oh, you already know how it goes. She couldn’t stand Niles but after learning that he’s genuinely just bad at expressing himself, slowly warms to him. A peek into his past also helps Oboro get attached to him, although for both of their sakes, she’s taken to ignoring him whenever he makes his smug face before he says something saucy.
Odin: She…actually really likes Odin. He has a really big heart and a mastery of magic that is surprising for someone of his youth and….intellect. She didn’t like him at first, but he came to her after three days of no sleep and started speaking to her in perfect Shirasagin Hoshidan. He even named her spear Yutakana for her. She was..very flattered and warmed up to him faster than any other Nohrian.
Leo: Poor girl is torn. On one hand, he reminds her a lot of Takumi, with their similar interests and hobbies and intellect. On the other, he’s so dismissive and cocky that it took her a super long time to not hate him. Only after requesting an audience with her and losing a shogi match to her did she see a more human side of her. He’s very pragmatic and complimentary when he sees value in people. She’s not overly close with Leo, but at least understands and respects him as a tactician. She’s warmed up considerably though.
You are asked to pick a side in an extremely serious argument between two of your friends. What would you do? Would you rather make one of your friends angry by picking a side, or make them both angry by picking neither?

Same, Kamui omg
In my own opinion, my most favorite moment is the 17th chapter of Revelation (”Black Flames”), when Xander and Leo joined Corrin’s army – although I have my own headcanons about how this tearful reunion took place.
In my own HC, they only managed to see each other after the battle against Iago and Hans was over.
Corrin had to fight both Hans’ and Iago’s armies at the same time near the Bottomless Canyon. Xander and Leo also came only shortly after Ryoma and Hinoka came to help Corrin.
When Corrin told Xander the truth about the “Invisible Soldiers”, Xander originally did not believe her. He only believed her after he was attacked by some Vallite soldiers on the way back to Windmire.
Back in Windmire, Xander saw that his father was just a puppet that was controlled by a “mysterious enemy” (Anankos). At this point, all misunderstanding and hatred that Xander once had toward Corrin disappeared.
When Xander (and Leo) came to the Bottomless Canyon, Xander was definitely worried about Corrin. He also felt extremely regretful for calling her a traitor at the Plains of Hoshido and not trusting her at Cyrkensia.
When Xander saw Corrin near the Bottomless Canyon, he tried to call her, but she did not listen because she was too busy fighting Iago’s soldiers.
Then, shortly after, Xander saw Corrin transforming into her dragon form because she was very angry at Iago for hurting Azura. Corrin was so angry at this time that she lost control of herself (just like what happened to her after she saw the death of Queen Mikoto).
In her madness, Corrin simply attacked all Nohrian soldiers indiscriminately (both friends and foes alike). Xander knew that he had to calm her down as soon as possible before she killed more innocent people.
Xander and Leo then helped Corrin’s army to defeat Iago’s and Hans’ armies quickly. Eventually, only Iago himself remained. Xander then instructed Leo to take care of Iago while he took care of Corrin.
When Corrin finally saw Xander after the battle, she just stood still in her dragon form as she was overcome with lots of emotions. This made Xander believed that she still had some control over her mind.
As Xander approached Corrin slowly, he said that he regretted everything that he had said and done to her previously. He then said that he still loved her.
At this point, Corrin was truly overcome with emotions and exhaustion (as transforming into her dragon form need a lot of energy). She then collapsed in front of Xander after she transformed back to her human form.
Xander then hugged Corrin and cradled her on his lap. He said tearfully that he was extremely sorry for calling her a traitor. Corrin also cried as she said that she had missed Xander a lot.
At this point, Corrin was already in an extremely weak condition since she had to fight a lot of enemies. The wounds that she suffered in that battle also got infected, causing her to develop a fever.
Xander could only feel a lot of pain and regret as he saw Corrin shivering from the fever. He could only caressed her hair and covered her body with his cloak in order to keep her warm and comfortable.
Corrin passed out on Xander’s arm due to exhaustion and her illness shortly after she said tearfully that she missed Xander a lot. She also forgave all of his mistakes.
After Elise and Sakura healed some of Corrin’s wounds, Xander ordered Corrin’s soldiers to bring Corrin to her treehouse since he knew that Corrin could not last long in harsh weather (the weather at that time was snowy with lots of thunderstorm) if she was injured and sick.
They then brought Corrin back into her treehouse and laid her on her bed. Xander then tended to Corrin’s remaining wounds (with Elise and Jakob’s assistance) and looked after her until she woke up.
When Corrin was asleep, Xander caressed her hair and touched her hand. He also repeatedly said that he was extremely sorry for calling her a traitor with lots of tears as he touched Corrin’s hand.
After Corrin was awake, Xander quickly hugged her tearfully and said that he was really sorry for calling her a traitor and not believing in her. Corrin again said that she had forgiven him ever since she saw Xander again near the Bottomless Canyon.
Corrin also apologized to Xander for hurting his feeling when she chose not to side with him and ran away. Xander said that he also had forgiven her ever since he realized that she was saying the truth about the “invisible soldiers” and the true cause of the war.
Xander then vowed to always stay with Corrin and to always protect her.
