I totally understand where Gustav is coming from, and he isn’t wrong, but watching him lecture Alfonse was so painful. Was it really necessary for him to lecture his son in front of everyone else like that? Did he really need to shut Sharena down like that so quickly, too? I dunno, maybe I’m just uncomfortable since it hit a bit too close to home.

I told myself I wasn’t going to write this, but I still ended up writing it, whoops. This ended up slightly different from what I had in mind, but it’s already past 5AM and I should sleep. So here’s some late night(? early morning?) AliFonse.
CANON CORRIANDER!!

To Show Their Love Proudly
For Corrianderweek, Day 4: Valla.
I actually had another scene planned, but then they started getting lovey-dovey, so I just let them do their thing and shoved my plans aside lakçjdlm FOR THEIR HAPPINESS!
Making the King take a day off was one of the fiercest battles Kamui had ever fought, and she did slay a forgotten god a couple of years ago.
Not only she had to convince the man himself to take a breather and focus on something else, she had to make sure that all of the work he was about to ‘neglect’ was properly taken care of and seen to.
Still, no amount of preparing, working ahead of schedule and arranging things would allow both the King and Queen to take a full day off. Hell, even an afternoon off was too much to ask for. Which was why they only had their dates and encounters at night, after the land’s gone to sleep alongside its troubles.
But Kamui was intent on having at least two hours of leisure time with her beloved under the shade of a tree, in the middle of the day. Everything would be accounted for – there would be servants at a running distance should anything happen and a promise from Jakob to bring tea and snacks after one hour had passed. His visit was also an excuse to inquire about the state of things, under Xander’s request.

i wish i could hug every brazilian feeling lonely & betrayed right now. i know it’s fucked, i know it hurts like never did before, but please know that you are not alone & there are people that stand by your side. not enough people to win an election, but WE ARE HERE. 44/45% of us. we are here and we stand against all this hate and this lack of humanity. we love you and we will get through this, somehow. please take care of yourself. please don’t let them take your tears & your hope & your spirit. they’ve taken enough. we will get through this.
Apparently, something terrible happened in Brazil

Recently, I saw some tweets related to Brazil in my twitter account. Most of them are retweets from @yukiwrites (since I followed their twitter account [@Yuki_YashaH]). Apparently, those tweets are about the recent presidential election in Brazil.

I like the top list best! Although, nefarious should be on there as well!
Interesting considering in a Facebook AO3 group I’m in, someone professing to be an English Major was criticizing people for using anything other than the word ‘said’ around a month ago. They kept saying that it was the only proper way to explain someone speaking and people need to stop using things like ‘admitted’ or ‘revealed’ when ‘said’ is the only right way. He said they were making things unnecessarily complicated.
They got buried by the backlash btw. Even other English Majors disagreed.
So, note for those who are not English Majors, and even those who are, just because one person says that one way is the right way and no other way can be as well, doesn’t make that true. Teachings vary as much as opinions.
@skelitzel this may be helpful
The rules may say that what’s said is “said”… but rules were meant to be broken~
IMO if you rely too much on alternatives to “said” you starting bringing too much attention to the dialogue tags and risk telling instead of showing. I’ve stopped reading a few books because the author kept using alternatives to “said” and nothing else. On the other hand “said” is invisible, but it can get boring and come off like it’s just a pair of talking heads and it can ruin the pacing. You’re supposed to have a balance and action tags are really effective, because the quotation marks make it obvious it’s dialogue and bringing in the characters actions while they’re speaking makes it more dynamic.
just to add that most professional editors will tell you to keep it simple and keep it “said” with a few exceptions here and there – it’s a word that most readers will find “invisible” which is a *good* thing, because they’re focusing more on what’s being actually, y’know, said. Not that you *can’t* use a different word, but for the most part, yeah, they’ll want you to just use “said” for ease of reading.

I really love the Corriander Revelation ending. Xander was called Corrin’s “beloved husband”. :’)
